Interviews can be scary, we know. At Ophelos, we’re trying to remove as much stress and anxiety from the hiring process as possible, so that you can bring the best version of you.

We’re not here to catch you out or trip you up. Our hiring process is a two-way thing. Of course, we want to hear about all the cool things you’ve done and see if you’d be a good addition to the team. But we also want you to gauge whether this could be a place where you would feel excited about coming to work each day.

We’re always looking for ways to improve our interview stages and offer a better candidate experience, so our process may change over time. But this is how it looks right now.

☎️ Call with the Talent team (25 minutes)

In this call, we will tell you more about Ophelos and our mission. We’ll want to hear about your experience, and motivations to see if there’s a good alignment with the role and team. It’s super informal and we encourage lots of questions throughout.

👋 Hiring Manager video interview (45-60 minutes)

Here, you’ll get the opportunity to speak with your potential new manager. You will be able to have an in-depth conversation about the role, the company, and how your experience can contribute to our mission. There will be competency-based questions to assess your ability to complete the day-to-day responsibilities of the role. This is a two-way process, and we’ll make sure to leave time at the end for any of your questions.

📝 Skills assessment / take-home exercise

This stage varies depending on the role. For some, we ask candidates to complete a small task in their own time. These tasks are designed to take no more than a few hours and we will make sure you have plenty of time between interviews to complete this. Our aim is to make the task interesting and we hope this gives you a flavour of some of the common problems we’re solving at Ophelos. The Talent team will give you more specific details of what to expect from the take-home task during the initial call.

🏢 Values and team interview (90 minutes)

In this final part of the process, we invite you to our office in London to meet some of the team and our Founders in person. This will be a very conversational interview designed to understand your alignment with our values and give you a flavour of our culture.

The team will also give you an insight into what they’re working on, the problems they’re trying to solve and chat to you about their own experiences of working at Ophelos.

If you can’t come to London we will happily arrange for this stage to be done remotely.

🤩 Offer

Congratulations! You’ve aced our interview process and we want you on the team. Our Talent team will call you to go through the details of the offer before sending it in writing. Of course, we know accepting a job is a big deal, so we’ll happily set up chats to answer any further questions that might help with your decision.

Tips from the Talent team 🏆

Preparing for an interview can be pretty daunting, but we want to set you up for success. Here are our top tips:

  1. Get to know us! Check out our content hub, watch this fireside chat with our CEO, and follow us on LinkedIn.
  2. Take the time to give relevant examples of your previous experience and how it relates to the question being asked. We recommend using the STAR technique.
  3. Be vulnerable. It's ok to admit when things haven't gone to plan. Think about what you have learnt from being in certain situations and what you would do differently next time.
  4. Come prepared with your own questions. This is a two-way conversation and we encourage you to ask questions about the role, our culture, mission, and anything else you feel you need to understand in order to make a decision.
