We have compiled a list of resources to help if you are struggling with your energy bills.

⚠️ If you've set up a fixed-term plan with Ophelos for your energy but have concerns about your ongoing usage, we would highly recommend seeking support through the sources below to help you before your plan ends.

Citizens Advice consumer helpline

Consumer Advice can help by providing impartial and practical advice if there is a dispute between you and your energy supplier.

Citizens Advice (local branch)

Your local Citizens Advice can make you aware of any local grants available to you and check if you are receiving all the benefits you may be entitled to.

Turn2us

With Turn2us, you can quickly check your eligibility for any benefits, grants, or schemes, including for energy and water bills.

Household support fund

Speak to your local council to find out more about the Household Support Fund and if you are eligible.

British Gas Energy Trust

Fuel debt advice and grant assistance with the British Gas Energy Trust, open to anyone.

Energy Advice

Search for local grants that can help with home energy efficiency, e.g. boilers, insulation.

Warm Home Discount

Check if you are eligible for the government's warm home discount scheme. If you are not part of the core group then you may still be entitled to assistance as part of the broader category (your supplier will set the criteria for this).

Shelter

Shelter provides free advice and assistance if you are renting and are having issues resolving disputes with your landlord.

Heat Trust

Heat Trust have valuable information and advice for customers heating their homes through a heat network instead of a traditional supplier.

Money Helper

Money Helper has put together a page with advice on how to deal with rising energy prices. The website is also a great resource for general financial advice and money-saving tips.

Debt advice

If you are struggling with debts in addition to your energy arrears you can find lots of free debt advice organisations here.
